6.0 Powerstroke Crank No Start Cold
I feather the pedal and finally it gets better but is really rough for the first. The standpipes and dummy plugs in each head for the high pressure oil supply to injectors are the most likely problems.
While cranking oil pressure gauge on instrument cluster should between low and high in few seconds after cranking.
6.0 powerstroke crank no start cold. The video includes the use of the autoenginuity scan tool. Lets checked the ficm and high pressure. I would suspect it is the ipr screen, stc fittings, stand pipes and dummy plugs.
I can let it cool for a couple hours. 4'' exhaust, egr delete, upgraded oil cooler, arp studs,50mm bov. Low oil pressure gauge indicate a fault with oil pressure switch or oil pump.
Seems like high pressure oil might be bleading off? Oil pressure switch is bad Seems like a low injector control pressure situation.
I think you already changed those. In my signature block, there's a document, 6.0 good reading, otherwise known as the 6.0 bible. it's a freebie downloadable that will go into great depth for the lubrication system (low pressure oil) and the fuel management system (high pressure oil). Best thing to do is to read the stickies on no starts.
A truck came with a long crank when cold. Got towed in as a cranks but wont start vehicle. Any suggestions on what to check?
Discussion starter · #1 · nov 7, 2011. Today we get to work on the hated 6.0 liter ford powerstroke diesel. Watched your video and my observation is that when cold your ipr is commanded almost full closed @83% and when hot the ipr doesn't have to close fully to build enough pressure to start.
Verified that it was due to low icp or maybe i should say long time for icp to build. This is my test procedure to. If they both test good, get a scanner to confirm it is a high pressure oil leak.
I am back to having the cold start issue with my 6.0 i have changed the ipr,and the icp still having the same issue. If your 6.0 will not start cold, the issue may be either the glow plugs or glow plug controller, or it can be the ficm (fuel injection control module) , and/or the fuel injectors themselves. No drop when cranking or running.
It has a new hpop fresh oil. So i have a long crank when cold,. Ok, heres what i have.
He was getting the truck ready for plow season, said truck drove into his yard no problem. Once its warm everything is normal. Starts right up when cold but no accelerator action immediately.
He parked it, wired up some reverse lights to his tail lights, now the truck doesn't start, crank or anything, and. If after a long cranking with no start you get a lot of white smoke (raw I checked it with a scanner and it is not building high oil pressure when hot.
You may see plenty of oil pressure on the gauge but the high pressure oil that opens the injectors is probably passing through a blown stc fitting at the back of the high pressure pump or something of that nature. Tested the ficm voltage and got 48v. I just bought a 2003 f350 powerstroke 6.0.

No oil pressure on instrument cluster can be several reasons: The cooling part on the pistons and such is after it enters the pump, so no waste oil. The o rings on the dummy plugs cause this all the time.

The batteries are good and are changing correctly the only thing i noticed was the icp pressure after changing it it sometime has a reading of 1 koeo.
Just wanting some input about a slow cold start issue.
