In my signature block, there's a document, 6.0 good reading, otherwise known as the 6.0 bible. it's a freebie downloadable that will go into great depth for the lubrication system (low pressure oil) and the fuel management system (high pressure oil). Best thing to do is to read the stickies on no starts.

A truck came with a long crank when cold. Got towed in as a cranks but wont start vehicle. Any suggestions on what to check?

Discussion starter · #1 · nov 7, 2011. Today we get to work on the hated 6.0 liter ford powerstroke diesel. Watched your video and my observation is that when cold your ipr is commanded almost full closed @83% and when hot the ipr doesn't have to close fully to build enough pressure to start.

Verified that it was due to low icp or maybe i should say long time for icp to build. This is my test procedure to. If they both test good, get a scanner to confirm it is a high pressure oil leak.

I am back to having the cold start issue with my 6.0 i have changed the ipr,and the icp still having the same issue. If your 6.0 will not start cold, the issue may be either the glow plugs or glow plug controller, or it can be the ficm (fuel injection control module) , and/or the fuel injectors themselves. No drop when cranking or running.

It has a new hpop fresh oil. So i have a long crank when cold,. Ok, heres what i have.
