Honda Gcv160 Won't Start

Hi all, i just bought a reconditioned log splitter with a honda gvc160 engine ohc model, , it started at the store after 6 or 8 pulls. This is usually caused by leaving gas in system to long and kohler that starts everytime, and runs like a clock. Honda mower gcv160 won't start!

I think it had some bad gas in it, but i drained it and put in new gas. This one is the manual choke model. Model:hrr2166vka, bought at hd 1 year ago.
I pulled flywheel and key is ok. Mower very easy to start in fact. The unit is about 4 years old.

Another thing to look at is the valve cover, make sure it's not bent in anywhere as this can interfere with proper valve operation. You got yourself a very nice mower, and you started off in the right direction by trying to clean the carb. I split half a cord with it.

At home i could not start after 40 or so pulls, drained all gas , put in new gas, new plug, old plug was soaked, finally got it running after about another 40 pulls, ran great for a full tank of gas, next. But, only starts for a few seconds occasionally, when using starter fluid. Another thing to check too, since you had the carb off, is to make sure the throttle cable is installed properly and to make certain that the choke is closing completely when the throttle.
I've changed spark plug, carburetor, engine coil. I was able to download part of a shop manual for it. Mower outside for the winter but away from elements.
