Key Fob Locks And Unlocks But Wont Start Car
Recently my fobs have occasionally failed to lock the car. She did run out of gas(sending unit acting up) a few weeks prior to this happening, but it was working after, so i wouldn't think that had anything to do with it.


If the vehicle still does not start and the message of needing the key is still present, then the ignition switch needs replaced.



Key fob locks and unlocks but wont start car. Just one of these things being ajar or if the sensors for these are broken (won't register), the doors won't lock. Double check to ensure all of the doors are closed, as well as the trunk (boot) and hood (bonnet) of the vehicle. I'd rule out a switch problem if neither side won't operate the lock function.

At the very least you should be able to use this to get into your vehicle, even if it won't work for starting your car (though it can start certain cars). Yes, lights come on and door locks and inlocks. Next day i tried key 2.

Manual door lock/unlock button works fine at driver side. I searched and seen that some ppl have had issues with the key fob not locking the car. If the answer is no then hold the key in the start position and pump the clutch to the floor many times.

In most cases, the key can start the car but not work as a keyless entry remote. Then press and hold the unlock button (on your key, not the center console) and while holding the unlock, press the lock button on your key 3 times, and release both together. If you can feel the unlock function click, but can't feel the lock function click it most likely a fault of the relay. Tried it many times, same. Put the key in the ignition, and turn to the first ignition position, then back and take it out within 5 seconds. Didn't think anything of it.just thought key fob battery was dead.
